Thrift Store shopping is always an adventure for me. It is also one of the places that I get inspired for many of my projects. In fact Thrift Store shopping was #2 on my list on my “10 Ways to Inspiration” blog. Today was the day that I went to my local thrift stores. I thought it might be fun to share with you the type of items that I found at my three stops, Goodwill, Nifty Thrifty and Habitat for Humanity.

Stop #1 Goodwill
My first stop was at my local Goodwill. If you haven’t been in before, they usually have a 50% off color tag each week. This week the color was green. So, any items marked with a green tag are ½ price. I specifically look for green tag items. But I don’t limit myself only to the 50% off items, but I do look for them first.
Item #1 Stickers
These cute stickers are Anna Griffin sticker from the Cecile Collection. They are 3 Dimensional Stickers. They will be great for some cards or scrapbook pages. Since they were a green tag, they cost me $.50 each. So, I spent $1.00 for both packages.
Item #2 Emery Boards
I picked up some emery boards. I like to use these on some of my craft projects. They work great for Mod Podge. I also use them on my epoxy mugs. They had these at the checkout, so I grabbed those on the way out.
Item #3 Self-Laminating Paper
The next item was this package of 10 sheets of self-laminating paper. You don’t need a machine for these, it’ll be straightforward to use. These would be great for protecting a picture or a sheet of paper. Think about that special recipe that your grandma gave you. Protect it with a self-laminating sheet and you don’t need to worry about it getting ruined. This was another item that was a green tag, so this page cost be $1.00.
Item #4 Brayer
The last thing I got at Goodwill was a Brayer, and when I found this, I saw it in the box, and I was thinking, “You know what? “I might be able to use this for some of my “Mod Podge projects, or even vinyl.” It’s got an excellent roller on it, so I picked that up, and that one was $2.99.
So, my total purchase at Goodwill today was $6.50. I never know what I’m going to find, but it’s always fun to go in and check it out.
Stop #2 Nifty Thrifty
My second stop today was Nifty Thrifty. It is our Senior Center thrift store here in my hometown. I love to go to check out their craft section and especially material. These ladies know how to package material, and it is in such good order, and I can usually always find something.
Item #1 Flannel
I picked up some adorable flannel material. It measures 1 yard and was $2. I used this to make a baby blanket for my new great niece.
Item #2 Felt
The next item I found was a variety of felt pieces. I’ve got a project that I’m thinking about working on here real soon and felt was come in handy. I’m making journals, and I was looking for something to inlay into my journals. I paid $2 for this package, and I’ve got a nice variety of seven different colors. I think one of these will be a great inlay on my journal.
Item #3 Elastic
I also picked up is some elastic. Now, this is a thicker elastic, and I’m thinking that I will probably use this either with my makeup bags for cinching, or even to help on the back spine of some of my journals. The cost of the elastic was $.49 cents.
So, at Nifty Thrifty today I spent $4.50 and it is always a fun stop.
Stop #3 Habitat for Humanity
Our local Habitat for Humanity has an upcycle block party coming up next month, and I will be having a booth there and doing some of my signs, and so I wanted to pick some materials for them today. They have solid wood doors that are really nice to use with signs. I use both vinyl and paint on my signs.
Item #1 Cupboard Doors
I picked up two different size kitchen cupboard doors. The small doors I want to use for some chalkboard signs and the larger door I want to make a sign for home décor. It’s kind of fun to see what you can do with these types of doors. The cost for the two small doors was $4.00 and the larger door was $3.00.
Item #3 Mantel
I picked up a piece of wood that looks like it used to be a mantel. This will be great to make a coat rack sign piece. This piece cost me $3.00.
So, at Habitat for Humanity I spent $10.00.
I am looking forward to showing what I make with all of my treasures that I picked up today. In some of my upcoming blogs I will be sharing some videos on what I actually do with all of my finds today, but this just gives you a few ideas of what you can find when you venture into these fun types of stores. Remember someone’s trash can be the next person’s treasure. Let you imagine go and see what you can discover and create. Thanks so much for joining me today on my thrift store shopping adventure.
