I am super excited to tell you all that Cricut has just released new tools for the Cricut Maker! They were released last week on HSN! They were just about sold out before they were introduced during the Craft Extravaganza celebrating HSN’s birthday last week. Luckily, I pre-ordered these new tools. It helps to be on an e-mail alert list!
I like how the Cricut website describes their expandable adaptive tools for the Maker.
“Cricut Maker offers the widest range of tools for cutting, scoring, writing, and adding decorative effects – all so you can take on virtually any project you can imagine. Plus, with more tools coming, Cricut Maker grows with you as you master each new craft.”
There were 4 new tools, and I have three of those new tools arriving in the mail today!! The new tools all work with the adaptive tool system, which means you can use the same housing for all of the tools. You do however have to switch out the blade. Currently, the scoring wheel and double scoring wheel are available, but here are the new Cricut tools:
The Wavy Blade, Fine Debossing Tip, Engraving Tip, and The Perforation Blade.
Wavy Blade
This new tool will be great for adding wavy edges to your cards. I also think I will use this tool when I am making flowers. Flowers are so much fun to make and can be used for so many different projects (and of course just look darling!). Think about all of those giant flowers you see people making or maybe you want to make an arrangement or keep it sweet and simple by adding a decorative flower to a sign or frame. With your Maker and these awesome new tools, you will be able to do all sorts of things like this! We will have to try some out in an upcoming project!
Fine Debossing Tip –
The fine debossing tip will be great for adding texture to your projects. I have lots of embossing folders, but I am limited to the designs that I have in my collection. This new tool will open us up to the possibilities of embossing basically all images in Design Space! This will be perfect for cardstock, foil poster board, foil cardstock, foil kraft board, regular kraft board & poster board, and much more. We will try this out in an upcoming project!
Engraving Tip
I would have to say that I am most excited about this new tip. Just think about what we could engrave and the possibilities of fun projects. We can engrave custom and permanent designs on lots of materials such as; dog tags, nameplates, inscribed art and decor, jewelry, monograms, wood carvings, and keepsakes. Once again, the possibilities are endless. I saw this cute project the other day that included an acrylic plate that had been engraved and when they added it to a light stand with changing colors, it was beautiful. How fun would that be! We will definitely have some fun putting this new tool to use in some upcoming projects.
Perforation Blade
This is the one tool that I have not ordered yet. HSN had a great package deal on the other three new tools so I decided to start with them. This blade is used to make perfectly spaced perforation cuts. This makes doing projects like raffle tickets, countdown calendars, and tear-off projects easier to create and use. The perforation cuts make it so you can easily tear off without the need of folding before hand, and the cuts are crisp clean.
Like I mentioned earlier, I have three of these four new tools showing up in the mail today, and guess what? As I’m sitting here writing to you, UPS had just dropped them off! I can’t wait to start playing with each of them.
