So, if you’re like me and love DIY holiday decorations, then you are going to love these DIY Personalized Wood Stocking Tags that I created with my Cricut Maker. Did you know that your Maker can cut wood? The Maker has the power that is needed to cut certain woods with its rotary blade.
I have used both Basswood and Balsa wood for these tags, and I like the Balsa wood the best for these tags. If you aren’t familiar with balsa wood, it’s a type of wood that feels somewhat flexible. It almost feels like styrofoam. It’s great when you need a material that’s a little stiffer, and I know a lot of people who have enjoyed using it for different Cricut crafting projects — Cricut as some great tips for cutting with Balsa wood.

I hope you like today’s tutorial on how to make these personalized wood Christmas Stocking tags. If you’re feeling super creative, use these same steps as stepping stones to create unique tags. There are so many holiday images in Design Space that you can incorporate. I even made some ornament tags for our Christmas Town USA celebration using balsa wood. Twenty-eight ornaments for the sponsors trees. …the possibilities are endless!
Speaking of our celebration if you are located close to my home town of Shelton Washington, we are celebrating Christmas Town USA starting this weekend. This year our little community is coming together to reestablish Shelton, WA, as Christmas Town, USA. A nod to our timber heritage, the series of events and programs will begin with the installation of the 32′ Beauchamp Santa design at Overlook Park. Along with the Holiday Magic tree lighting on December 6th and Christmas Town parade, December 7th, festivities are getting underway with two weeks of exciting Christmas events to share with your friends and family!
I will be leading four gift making workshops during the 12 days of Christmas. The first one will be this Sunday, December 8th, and we will be creating wood home blocks with a heart featuring Shelton, WA. They on Monday, December 9th, we will be making Glitter Ornaments featuring Naughty and Nice Ornaments. The next session will be Sunday, December 15th, and we will making the Glass Cheese Trays, and the last session will be on Thursday, December 19th, and we will be making the Rae Dunn Themed Ornaments. I hope you will be able to join us for at least one of the sessions, if not all. I would love to spend some crafting time with each of you!
So make your plans for a Christmas tree maze and Guinness world record attempt for most lighted trees in one location, caroling events, gingerbread contest, gift making workshops, and a Christmastown Market in the former Olsen Furniture building. So much holiday joy to share this year in downtown Shelton — historic Christmastown USA!
