I am having fun planning for the upcoming holiday season and gifts that I can make! A Rustic Wood Tray is a great idea that I want to share with you today.
I am working on a big rustic wood wall for my new craft room. I will share it with you when it is all done! Sooner than later, I hope!
I was given a rustic wood tray last year by a good friend, and I used it as inspiration for this project. Luckily I did not have to look too far for wood lying around. But I wanted to make it look a little more rustic. I will share a method to age wood with you.
You can make any size of rustic wood tray you want. Once you learn how to make them, you will see how easy they are to make!
Distressing or Aging Wood Method for your Rustic Wood Tray
Before we start, let’s talk about aging or distressing your wood. To get a great aging effect, I used vinegar and steel wool. I start with a mason jar and add steel wool and pour white vinegar to cover it. I let it sit for at least 30 minutes. You can let it sit longer, and you will get a different effect.
The result I got was a great shade of grey, which is what I was looking for, and guess what? I used ingredients I had around the house!
Check out the video below for step by step tutorial on creating this great tray. Grab some wood and a few handles, and you to can make a great Rustic Serving Tray!
I love having these trays handy, and they add to any decor. You will find mine on my ottoman, and it serves as an excellent spot for decorations, drinks, and even a candle. I also use it for serving drinks and appetizers on the patio!
These trays are so fun to make! A DIY Rustic Serving Tray with handles that adds style and function to any decor!
