I love the Christmas song “Santa Clause is Coming to Town,” and what a better way to greet him than with a special Dear Santa Trivet filled with milk, cookies, and a carrot for Rudolph.
I remember all the fun traditions when I was little. Christmas Eve was always so special. My mom, dad, brothers, and I would go to Christmas Eve service at church. I have to admit it was the longest service of all. I was so excited to get home! Because when we got home, we got to pick out one present to open.
My favorite year was the year I opened up my Barbie head. I know that sounds funny, but it was a Barbie Styling head that I would practice being a beautician. I think my dad was the happiest because that meant I was not going to practice with him! He was always a good sport, though! My dad in curlers and all!
The present opening was fun, but then we would put out a plate for Santa, and off to bed, I would go. That night was always so hard to get to sleep.
So I thought it would be fun to spread the Christmas joy and create a trivet just for Santa. It is always good to remind Santa what a good little boy or girl you have been.
So I decided to check out the ready made designs on DesignBundles.com. They have so many creative artists that make eye-catching designs, and it saves so much time using one of their designs. They have both free designs and designs for purchase. I found a great design for just $4.00!
I wanted to add a cute background for the Trivet, so I hoped over to Canva.com to find a background and add my Design Bundles design.
So let’s get started on learning how to makes this Dear Santa Trivet! Check out the video tutorial below or follow the step by step instructions below! You choose how you want to learn to make this Dear Santa Trivet!

STEP #1 DESIGN BUNDLES
I used a design that I purchased from DesignBundles.com for my Dear Santa Trivet. I purchased a design but they also have some free designs available.
After you purchase the design you have the ability to download it in numerous formats. I like to use the .SVG format even though I am not cutting the design. I have found that the .SVG format keeps the design together and easier to use as you add features to your complete design.
STEP #2 CANVA
Once you have your design downloaded to your computer I like to add more effects to the design so I hop over to Canva.com. This gives me the ability to add a fun background to my designs.
First I select a poster template.
and then resize it to match the size of my sublimation tile blank which is 8X10.
Then the fun begins and you get to select a background. I found a fun one when I search “Christmas Backgrounds”.
STEP #3 UPLOAD DESIGN BUNDLES DESIGN
Once you have the background in place it is time to upload the design we found on Design Bundles. You do this by selecting the upload option on the right hand menu and upload from you device.
Once you design is uploaded you drag it over to the canvas ad resize.
STEP #4 PRINTING
With your design all resized it is time to print you design to your sublimation printer. I use my Epson 7720 and the sublimation in I use is Printers Jack.. Make sure to print your image as a MIRROR image.
STEP #5 SUBLIMATION
Whenever I buy sublimation blanks the seller normally includes instructions on time and temperature settings. The blanks that I bought recommend 400 degress for 500 seconds. I keep a notebook with all of my sublimation settings. To prepare the tile for sublimation I make sure the tile is clear and that there is no protective coating to the tile. Them I align my printed image with the tile and secure it with heat resistant tape.
The image goes face down on the glossy side of the tile. I lay my tile face up and image down on my heat press. Remember to place a protective piece of paper down first and to cover the tile and print with either parchment paper or teflon sheet.
Now engage your heat press at 400 degrees for 500 seconds. When the time is up make sure to put on your heat resistant gloves before you try and pick up the tile. It is extremely HOT!
STEP #6 ADD CORK BACKING
I like to add a cork backing to my tiles to protect any surface that it might set on.
There you have it a beautiful “Dear Santa Trivet” all ready for Santa to visit!
