I’m no stranger to a good Thrift Store. In fact, Thrift Store shopping is a favorite hobby of mine! A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I made a road trip and hit lots of Thrift Stores in the area. I love finding trays at Thrift Stores and even love up-cycling them more. Then add in a few chair legs that I found to upcycle into candle holders, and we have some upcycle projects for this week’s Inspiration Friday!
I enjoy nothing more than the challenge of taking someone’s trash and turning it into my treasure.
SUPPLIES
Here is a list of a few additional supplies and tools I used for these projects!
Up-Cycling Project #1 Tray Makeover
I picked it up at Goodwill. I love Goodwill’s special tag sale each day. The ay I picked up the tray, it was Red Tag! So my tray was only $4.99. I added a little paint. In fact, the paint I added is my latest discovery. I love using Dixie Belle Chalk Paint. It covers surfaces so great! I used their Caviar shade. It is a matte finish. You can check out their whole selection at DixieBellePaint.com. The one feature I really love is that when I use Dixie Belle Paint in combination with a vinyl decal, the paint adheres so well that the paint all stays in place when I transfer the decal. Make sure to check out the video below to see it in action!
Up-Cycling Project #2 Chair Legs to Candle Holder
I love candles, and I love even more finding unique ways to display them. So when I found some chair legs at a Thrift Store, I thought their shape would make a good base for a candleholder. I had some terra cotta pot bases on hand and added some paint, and I had a new candle holder. I also used my new Glue gun for this project and I love it. You will have to check it out!
I love how it stands up when I am not using it. It is a plug in glue gun but you can also use it cordless and it has two heat settings.
Check out the video tutorial below or follow the step-by-step instructions below! You choose how you want to learn to do this project!
Stay tuned for some more great transformations coming soon. It is almost garage sale season! I’ll share my great finds and show you how I bring new life into each piece. It only takes inspiration, imagination, and a little paint and sandpaper to create something new.
