I see rustic book stacks at most of the bazaars I have been to in the past. It is one of those items you feel is so cute, but you know you can make it. So, let’s make it together this week! I am making mine to add to my Christmas décor, but you can make them for any time of the year.
Our town has a Christmas Market every year, and I get to host crafting days for the public. So, this year these cute Christmas Rustic Book Stacks will be one of the projects. They’re so cute and easy to make. I love that I get to use some of my scrap wood and a little bit of paint and paper and a few embellishments, and before you know it, you have some cute books to put on display or give as a gift to a special friend.

Step #1 Sanding
Lightly sand the edges of each piece of wood. I like to smooth out the edges.
Step #2 Painting
Apply a light coat of white paint to the edges of each piece of wood. There is no need to paint the top or bottom of the piece of wood.
Step #3 Add Scrapbook Paper
Pick out a piece of paper for the cover of the book. Lay it upside down and trace the size of the wood on the paper. Cut out the paper.
Step #4 Add Mod Podge
Apply a light coat of mod podge to the top of one of the pieces of wood. Lay the paper from the previous step on top of the Mod Podge. Smooth out the paper and let it dry.
Step #5 Add Book Titles
I cut out the titles using my Cricut Maker. The titles I used were 1” by 7 ½”. Apply the vinyl titles to the long side of each piece of wood.
Step #6 Finish Book Edges
I like to use sandpaper to smooth and finish the edges of the book. The sandpaper will help trim the edges of the paper too!
Step #7 Tie Books
Lay the piece of wood on top of each other. The wood with the paper will be on top—wrap Twine around the books three or four times and tie a knot.
Step #8 Add Finishing Touches
Grab some embellishments to finish off your books. Glue the embellishments to the Twine.
There you have it. How easy was that to make these cute rustic Book Stacks. Just think of all the other ideas you could do with book titles. I saw one that I thought was cute did up as a baby stats or some fun titles for a gift for a mother or father’s day. Make sure to take us on social media when you make your rustic book stacks. I can’t wait to see what you make.
