Dollar Tree has some great supplies for craft projects. I want to share a quick and easy project with Dollar Tree’s glass cutting boards. I like to use the glass cutting boards as a trivet, but they also work great as a small cheese board.
So this week’s Inspiration Friday project is my take on a Napkin Trivet! If you have seen some of my other projects, you know that I love buffalo plain and sunflowers. So when I found these cute napkins, I knew I had to do a project with them.
You can find the glass cutting boards in the kitchen section at Dollar Tree. My Dollar Tree has them in two shapes, square and a circle. I always stock up when I see a new supply of these glass cutting boards at my local Dollar Tree. The cutting boards make great gifts or a great addition to a gift basket.
How To Make A Trivet from a Glass Cutting Board
The Dollar Tree glass cutting boards work great for this project, but you could use any size of a glass cutting board or even a transparent glass plate. I also like to pick up cute napkins whenever I find them. I picked up the buffalo plaid and sunflower napkins at Hobby Lobby. You could do this project for all types of holidays, and maybe you have a friend that loves flowers. Grab some pretty flower napkins and do this project for that special friend.

Check out the video tutorial below or follow the step by step instructions below! You choose how you want to learn to make this project!
Step #1 Prepare Glass Cutting Board
Clean the glass and then remove the four bumper pads on the bottom.
Step #2 Separate Napkin
Most napkins are two or three layers. For this project, we only need the top layer. So we want to separate the layers by carefully removing the top decorative layer and set aside.
Step #3 Mod Podge Layer 1
The glass cutting board has a smooth and rough side. Apply an even coat of Mod Podge to the smooth side of the glass cutting board.
I like to lay down my napkin pretty side up and then lay the glass cutting board on top of the napkin. That way, it allows me to see how I am placing the design.
Next, carefully flip over the glass cutting board and gently smooth out the napkin.
Hint: I learned a great tip recently: to use either plastic wrap or a plastic bag to smooth out the wrinkles. It works, and since the napkin is so fragile, the plastic wrap acts as a layer to protect it when you are smoothing out the napkin.
Step #4 Mod Podge Layer 2
Now it is time to add a second coat of Mod Podge. The second coat will help seal the trivet.
Step #5 Finish Edges
The last step is to finish off the edges. Once the Mod Podge is completely dry, I clean up the edges with sandpaper.
Step #6 Add Pads
Now all that is left to do is glue back on the bumper pads to the bottom. I like to use E6000 glue to make sure the pads will stay!
