Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so I wanted to develop a Heart-shaped project. I saw many projects with buttons at Christmas time, so I thought a Heart-shaped button project would be fun. The fun part of this project is you can use any color of buttons.
It is fun to decorate for Valentine’s day so grab a tub of buttons and some felt, and we can create a unique button heart. I love it when I can come up with a project that uses supplies in my stash. If you don’t have buttons in your stash, you can pick up a variety pack and get started.

How to Make These Heart Shaped Decorations
Step 1:
Cut a Heart out of the Red Felt. If you don’t have felt, you can use a poster board. You will want to paint it red.
Step 2:
Grab your buttons and add them to the felt heart. I used my glue gun to add glue to the felt and then buttons. Don’t worry about a pattern. Just put them as close together as possible and fill in every spot.
Step 3:
Once you have the heart filled with buttons, it is time to paint. You can paint the buttons with acrylic paint or spray paint. Either way works. Once you have all of your buttons covered in red color, let your heart dry. I let mine dry overnight.
Step 4:
It is time to decide what you want to do with your heart. I had an 8×10 frame on hand, so I added card stock to the frame behind the glass and glued it on my heart.
I took mine a step further and added a cute saying to my heart using my Cricut.
But you add the heart on the frame by itself. I also added a bow.
The button heart makes such a cute Valentine decoration. I put mine on display in my craft room. Last year I made a heart garland that also makes a great decoration. You can check out that post HERE.
