Looking for a fun sewing project? Try making bandana bibs! Not only are they practical, but they also add a pop of color and personality to any baby’s outfit. Follow these simple steps to get started.

Bibs are the perfect accessory for any parent. They come in all shapes and sizes, depending on your needs – whether you need one to catch drool or spit-up bullets (spoiler alert: there will be plenty!), these bibs can also double as decoration! If it’s just about keeping clothes clean while still maintaining style points with friends who don’t know how tough motherhood really is then I recommend choosing an absorbent fabric like flannel. According to my daughter-in-law, bandana bibs are a must-have item for all new moms.
Using flannel fabric for this project was the best choice I’ve ever made. Not only are they stylish, but also super soft and absorbent! My end result? Three reversible bibs that will keep your child clean in any situation.
The bandana bib is the most basic bib style. Simply cut two triangle forms from a 12×12 inch square. I started with a 12×12 inch square and diagonally sliced it because I prefer to use matching fabric for my bibs so they’re reversible.

Step 1 Cut Fabric
I lay the cloth on my cutting mat with the wrong sides facing each other. The pattern is then placed on top of the cloth. You may pin your pattern in place and snip or use a rotary cutter to cut out the bib.

Step 2 Prep Fabric for Sewing Bibs
Before you start sewing, make sure the fabric is pinned or clipped to keep it from shifting.
Step 3 Time to Sew Bibs
It’s time to prepare it for the sewing machine now. Using the bib edge as a guide, stitch 1/4 of a seam around the bib. Make sure there is a 3 inch gap between stitching in this step so you can turn the bib later on. I prefer to press the bib well with my iron before proceeding with the next step.

Step 4 Turn and Topstitch
It’s now time to turn the bib right-sides out. However, before doing so, I like to trim around the curves to aid with the laying flat of seams.

Then, using the hole you made in step three, turn it right-sides out. To make my seams lay flat, I use my point turn er to push the corners out.

Now it’s time to topstitch! Topstitching is a really great way to add some style, just be sure to sew slowly and carefully around curves so you don’t catch any of your fabric in the stitching process.

Step 5 Add Snaps to Bibs
At both ends, attach snaps. I attached two snaps at each end. This allows the bib to grow with your child as he or she develops.

Bibs are useful for catching drool and dribble because they’re excellent for keeping stains off of your baby’s clothing! Bibs will keep your infant’s clothes clean
