If you’re looking for a fun, new way to decorate a Lazy Susan, look no further! In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to do it using rice paper and Mod Podge. This is a great project for beginners, and it’s a lot of fun! Let’s get started.
Have you used Rice Paper before? I haven’t used it before. I bought some beautiful rice paper from Bells and Whistles and wanted to use it in an upcoming project. You can find the same print I used on ETSY.
Rice paper is a great choice for decoupage projects because it’s thin and flexible. It’s also easy to work with and doesn’t tear easily. Decoupage paper is a little thicker and more sturdy, so it’s better for projects that require a little more strength.
I decided to use rice paper because I wanted a more delicate look for my lazy Susan. Rice paper is thinner and has a more delicate texture than decoupage paper. I also thought that the color of the rice paper would be more subtle and elegant than the brightly-colored decoupage paper. I wanted a texture that would still show the wood behind the paper.
Now that you know a little bit about rice paper, let’s move on to the tutorial! This project is really easy and only requires a few supplies. I picked up a cute Lazy Susan from Target’s Dollar Spot section.
The first thing you need to do is gather your supplies.

Once you have your supplies, it’s time to get started! Check out the video tutorial below or follow the step-by-step instructions below! You choose how you want to learn to make this project!
Step #1
Cut your rice paper. I traced the size of my Lazy Susan with a pencil and then cut out my circle, but don’t worry if it’s bigger than yours; we’ll fix those edges later on!
Step #2
Apply a coat of Mod Podge or your choice of Decoupage glue to the Lazy Susan with a paintbrush. I like to make sure I apply a nice even coat.
Step #3
Lay the Rice Paper on top of the Mod Podge. Be careful to lay it right where you want it. Once you put it down it is hard to move the Rice Paper without tearing it. Smooth how the Rice Paper.
Step #4
Apply another coat of Mod Podge to the top of the Rice Paper and let it dry. A hint to speed up the drying process is to put the Lazy Susan in the oven at a low heat setting like 200 degrees and about 10 minutes.
Step #5
The last set is to use a piece of sandpaper to clean up the edges of the Lazy Susan.
Rice paper is such a beautiful material, I can’t wait to use it in more projects! Have you used rice paper before? What did you make? Let me know in the comments below!
