Check out the video below or follow along below as I show you my favorite Cricut Tips! You choose how you want to learn about my tips/hacks!
#1 Cricut Tip ~ Dollar Tree Scrapper
Cricut’s accessories are great, but I like to look for alternatives to save a little money. The Dollar Tree chopper/scrapper is great to use as a burnishing tool. The extra-large Cricut Scaper is good, but the Dollar Tree one is even larger. You can use it to burnishing materials and clearing all machine mats. Apply materials to larger surfaces with ease. Perfect for vinyl, paper, iron-on projects, and more.
#2 Cricut Tip ~ How to Remove from the Mat
One tip I learned early in my Cricut journey. Always turn your mat upside down and remove your material by peeling the mat back. This method helps prevent my material from tearing.
#3 Cricut Tip ~ Weeding Tool
My favorite weeding tool is my Pin Pen. I have had my PIN PEN for a few years, and I use it for every weeding project! Cricut has a weeding tool, but my PIN PEN is by far my favorite weeding tool. I was introduced to my PIN PEN when I attended a Crazy Crafters event in Tennessee! I now see that they are available on Amazon.
#4 Cricut Tip ~ Scrap Vinyl Collector
Whenever I am weeding vinyl, I struggle with all the little vinyl sticking to everything. A couple of years ago, I saw someone using a wipes container to dispose of their scraps. I have also seen a couple of solutions on Amazon. But this idea is so much cheaper, and another Dollar Tree Hack. The Silicone Travel Dressing Containers make a great scrap vinyl collector. Turn it upside down and cut an X in the bottom. As you are weeding your project, you can easily insert your weeding tool into the X and pull it back out and start weeding again. These little tips have saved me lots of time and frustration when I am weeding. We the container is full, unscrew the lid, empty it into the garbage!
#5 Cricut Tip ~ Transfer Tape Alternative
Transfer tape can be costly but necessary when working with vinyl—so finding an alternative to save some money or to have on hand in a pinch is a find! The option that I have discovered is Contact Paper. Sometimes I can find it at Dollar Tree, but I can always find it at Wal-Mart. It works best with vinyl. One exception is Glitter Vinyl.
#6 Cricut Tip ~ Wheels
This hack/tip I saw on TikTok on @typeasolutions. I had not thought of this great idea, but it is a great one. I don’t know about you, but I have my Cricut stored against the wall on my countertop. When I need to use it, I pick it up and move it forward the recommended 10 inches away from the wall. So why not add wheels to your Cricut to make it a little easier. The wheels I used are from Amazon!
#7 Cricut Tip ~ Vinyl Scrap Storage
I love to get the most out of my vinyl, so saving my scraps is essential. There are lots of ways to store craft vinyl scraps. I have found my baggy method the best. I have a tub that I have with four-gallon size baggies with the following labels, HTV, HTV Glitter, Vinyl, and Glitter Vinyl.
