So today, I’m super excited because I am starting to work on the craft room/studio rebuild projects. I wanted to do something fun with my logo, and I found this old bulletin board at a garage sale this weekend. So I thought, why not combine the two! So let’s make a custom fabric-covered bulletin board!
You can use bulletin boards for all types of things. I will be using mine just above my desk, but you can use one for kid’s papers or all your important things to do!
This project is fun and easy, and it is going to help keep me organized. I love to upcycle, so this is an excellent project because it’s easy, inexpensive, and does not take much time to make, and it adds a special touch to your decor.

#1 Take a Part the Bulletin Board
The first thing I did was remove the frame from the bulletin board I picked up at a garage sale. I paid $1.00 for it! Don’t pass up an old bulletin board at your next garage sale!
I wanted to add a punch color to my bulletin board. So I bought some spray paint and painted the frame.
#2 Cut Fabric
Then I determined the amount of fabric I needed. The amount of fabric needed is based on the size of the Bulletin Board. I like to add about 2 inches to the fabric length and width. My bulletin board is 24″x36″ so, a yard of fabric is more than enough for my bulletin board. I already on some on hand so I used it.
Before I add my fabric to the board, I add my Fun Stuff Crafts logo to the center of the material using Sublimation. I used 100% polyester outdoor fabric which is perfect for sublimation. If you don’t do sublimation you can also add Heat Transfer Vinyl to your board of just find some fun fabric. All of these options will make a great Fabric Covered Bulletin Board.
#3 Adding Fabric to the Bulletin Board
Once the sublimation is done, it is time to add the fabric to the corkboard. I pressed my fabric. There is no need to prewash the fabric. I like to secure my fabric to the board with two methods. The first is to add adhesive spray and then staple the fabric to the cork board.
So first I lay the cork board down on the table and lay the fabric face up on it. I then determined where I wanted my fabric to be on the board.
I decide to have my logo about in the middle. Now it is time to add the adhesive. I like to do it in two steps to make sure I get it applied all over the board. So first I fold up the fabric halfway and apply to adhesive directly to the cork board.
Then I smooth out the fabric over the adhesive and repeat with the other half of the fabric.
Step #4 Stapling
Flip over the cork board so your fabric is facing the table. Starting with one side and fold over the edge of fabric and staple the fabric in place to the cork board. I used 3/8 inch staples. Just make sure your staples don’t go through the cork board. Make sure to keep the fabric tight.
Next, I fold each side and staple the sides and corners.
Then I like to add glue to the back to secure the frame in place. This is an extra step but I felt like my frame needed it.
And there we have it! A fabric-covered bulletin board. Now I don’t have any excuses for miss placing important papers or an idea for a future project. I just need to pin it.
