I have a few tools in my craft room that are my go to tools! What are those tools that you use all the time? You know the tools that are within your reach for all of your craft projects. Let’s take a look at my go-to tools and how I use them.
#1 Cricut Maker
I think that my Maker is probably one of my favorite go-to tools. I have owned three Cricut machines over the years, and my Maker is by far, my favorite. The Maker gives me more options for cutting. The adaptive tool housing lets me interchange my cutting tools. It handles fabrics, leather, paper, and balsa wood with effortless precision. It also cuts sewing patterns in just a few clicks. #2 Sewing Machine
I just recently purchased a new sewing machine. My old sewing machine was about 25 years old. When I started looking for a new sewing machine, I was amazed at the new features in the sewing machines. They have self threaders and built-in thread cutters not to mention 100’s of stitch choices. After trying out lots of them, reading reviews and watching UTUBE reviews, I decided on my Brother 3000. The features of the machine are great, and it is very intuitive to use. I looked at some of the embroidery machines, and they stressed me out just trying to figure out how to use them. I was able to sit down at my brother and start sewing right away!
#3 Crafters Companion Gemini
The Gemini is an excellent dual-use machine. With both die-cutting and embossing tool, I can do lots of different types of crafts. I use it for lots of my papercrafts. I have been acquiring a collection of different kinds of dies and embossing folders to use with the machine. It was designed for intricate dies as well as for cutting heavyweight cardstock, vinyl, foil and multiple layers of fabric. This is why the Gemini is another one of my go-to tools! Buy It Here!
#4 Memory Maker Crop-a-Dial Chopper
This little tool is great at adding a professional touch on your papercrafts. It adds either a 1/4 or 1/2 inch rounded edges to your papercrafts. I have used it to add a rounded edge to cards, journals, bookmarks, post-it noteholders, to name a few. Buy It Here!
#5 Pin Pen
I discovered this little gem at a Crazy Crafters event in Nashville, Texas last year. It is a game-changer for weeding those vinyl projects in a breeze. The pen is available at 651Vinyl.com. I would also add that this is the company that I use to purchase the majority of my vinyl products. Buy It Here!
#6 Cricut Rotary Cutter
I was never a rotary cutter person. I used scissors or a paper cutter. That is until I discovered Cricut’s Rotary Cutter, it makes cutting my vinyl for my Maker projects so easy. I use it with Cricut’s large ruler to give me that clean cut. I am also using it to cut material for some of my sewing projects also. Buy It Here!
#7 Cricut Large Ruler
This stainless steel ruler is incredible. It provides protective shields to protect your fingers when you are cutting. It has non-slip protection on the back to help it stay in place. I use this ruler in combination with my rotary cutter, knife, and self-healing mats. The extra-long length is great when you are working on larger projects. Buy It Here!
#8 Cricut True Control Knife and Self Healing Mat
The Self Healing Mat and True Control Knife combination was a game-changer for me. I like them both so much; I have three mats in different sizes and two knives that I use for different types of materials. The mats have all of the multi-angled grid lines that help with projects, and if you flip over the mat, you have a decorative print to add class and style to your workspace. Buy It Here!
#9 Cricut Easy Press
The Easy Press was a Christmas present from my son. He surprised me with this gift. The Easy Press is excellent to use for all of my Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV) projects. It comes with a temperature chart to allow you to set it to the correct setting for both time and heat. I have used it on shirts, aprons, wood, paper, canvas, and burlap. If you don’t require a full-size heat- press, I would highly recommend a Cricut Easy Press. I have the large Easy Press, but they are now available in three sizes. Buy It Here!
#10 Tumbler Turner
The Epoxy Tumbler craze what not something I thought I would get into, but I did. I now own six tumblers. I purchased my Tumblers Turner off of Etsy and Amazon. The Turners that I bought were hand made from private dealers. Last week We R Memory Makers released the first commercial constructed tumbler turner, and I picked up two of them.
So, these are my go-to tools. What tools do you reach for each time you do a project? As you can see I have varied assortment of craft tools. I love to create all types of things from a gift card or wedding present using my Cricut Maker or Gemini our using my sewing machine to sew a make-up bag or a purse to an Epoxy Tumbler using my Tumbler Turner. I hope I have inspired you to create! That is my goal.
