I love having a few last-minute DIY gift ideas in my collection. This week I want to share a great recipe for Bath Salts. You hear a lot about Sugar Salts, but I love this recipe for Bath Salts. They make a great gift for any occasion, but they are also a great gift to pamper yourself. The best part is they are super easy to make!
Bath salts are a gift to give someone special. Think what you are giving that special person a reason to soak in a hot bath, relieve tension, and reduce stress.

Each ingredient has a unique purpose and adds to the recipe for these Last Minute Bath Salts!
EPSOM SALT
Epsom salt bathwater can soften rough, dry skin and exfoliate dead skin cells. It is good to check with a doctor before soaking in Epsom salt if you have a skin condition, as it may worsen the symptoms.
SEA SALT
Our bodies contain the same concentration of minerals and nutrients as seawater, so it’s no wonder that sea salt is a natural ally to balance, protect, and restore the body and skin.
ESSENTIAL OILS
So many possibilities and the fun part! There are lots of different scents of Essential oils. Each scent has many uses and benefits. Here are a few of my favorites:
- Eucalyptus ~ Soothing
- Grapefruit ~ Refreshing, detoxifying, astringent
- Lavender ~ Restful sleep, mood improvement, soothes sun-damaged skin
- Lemon ~ Uplifting, clarifying, astringent
- Lemongrass ~ Clarifying, mental cleansing
- Sweet Orange ~ Uplifting, calming, digestive system.
You can use any combination of essential oils that you like.
BAKING SODA
Baking soda helps dissolve oils on your skin and makes a great addition to a hot bath. Make sure you’re using baking soda (it’s cheap!), NOT baking powder. It also helps absorb some essential oils to keep your bath salts smelling great.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Mix Epsom salts and sea salts in a medium bowl
- Now it is time to add essential oil. Mix it well to break up any clumps.
- Next, add baking soda and mix well.
- The last step is to pour into glass jars.
Note:
I read in another online recipe that someone reported their bath salts stored in a glass jar could break in high elevations. So if you live in a high elevation, you may not want to keep your bath salts in an air-tight container, or if you use glass jars, I suggest poking holes in the lid.
